NOUN banned Alumni association banned from convocation
The National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUAA) has been restricted from attending the 6th Convocation of the institution on Saturday following leadership crisis between its members.
A complaint letter written to the police and the Department of State Services by the Registrar, Felix I. Edoka, said contending groups laying different claims to the leadership of NOUAA were threatening to cause a severe breakdown of law and order at the said convocation, in the event that the university decides to recognize either of the two groups for purposes of the convocation ceremony.
“The security concerns raised above has compelled the management of the university to put out a public notice (copy attached) informing the public of its decision not to allow any group or faction or any person claiming to be attending the said convocation ceremony under the name or guise of the association entry into the university premises and the convocation arena during the period of the said convocation,” the letter said.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdallah Uba Adamu, said at a media conference that the university had reduced the incidences of missing exam results after developing her web portal following the termination of the agreement with an IT company that developed and managed its previous portal.
