The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has created two new academic departments and introduced new courses in the last two years.
Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Shu’aibu Musa, disclosed this during the matriculation ceremony of newly admitted students of the institution.
He said that the creation of the two new departments and introduction of new academic courses is part of the polytechnic’s pursuit of academic excellence.
“Achievement of academic excellence is one of the priority areas of our agenda. The polytechnic had in the last two years created two new academic departments and mounted the National Diploma, ND Programmes in Library and Information Science and Leisure Tourism Management Technology,” he said.
He said plans were also at an advanced stage to undertake programmes in Computer Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning, Fisheries and Mechatronics.
8,282 applied for various courses in the institution out of which the 5,063 were admitted.
